Some Important Antiaging Vitamins for your BeautyAs we age, our bodies process nutrients less efficiently, resulting in the need for us to increase our nutrient intake. For example, Vitamin D is a nutrient essential to the prevention of osteoporosis. Our bodies manufacture vitamin D when our skin is exposed to sunlight, but by our 70s our bodies produce only 40 percent of what they produced in third grade. The need for B vitamins increases with age as well. As you age, Vitamin B intake should also be increased, as the lack of these vitamins, namely, folic acid, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12, in the body, puts you at a higher risk of heart disease and memory loss that characterize aging. As you age, increase your B6 dose from 2 mg to 5 mg; increase B12 over time from 2 mcg to 10 mcg. So, to overcome the problem of aging, ensure your sufficient intake of anti aging vitamins. Important Vitamins:These following vitamins are very effective to aged peoples. Vitamin K As we age we suffer from increased inflammation that can cause increases certain hormones and decreases others. One of those that is increased is called Interleukin-6. This biochemical messenger increases inflammation throughout the body and has been implicated in arthritis, diseases of the blood vessels, heart disease and Alzheimer's. Scientists have found that vitamin K reduces Interleukin-6 and may have a major role to play in reducing many of the degenerative diseases that plague the Western world. Selenium The mineral selenium helps protect the body from cancers, including skin cancer caused by sun exposure. It also preserves tissue elasticity and slows down the aging and hardening of tissues associated with oxidation. Dietary sources of the mineral include whole grain cereals, seafood, garlic , and eggs. Vitamin E Vitamin E is most important antioxidant because it protects cell membranes and prevents damages to enzymes associated with them. Natural sources of vitamin E include vegetable oils such as sunflower oil, grains, oats, nuts, and dairy products. So, as we get aged, we need a high quantity of vitamin E. Vitamin C Vitamin C is the most common antioxidant found in the skin. It's also found in vegetables and citrus fruits. It is considered important in repairing free radicals and preventing them from becoming cancerous or accelerating the aging process. It protects LDL cholesterol from oxidative damage protecting the heart. Vitamin C has Anti-inflammatory benefits which reduce redness and irritation from Retin-A, Lasers, and other resurfacing procedures. It also is needed to make collagen to strengthen muscles and blood vessels and plays an important part in wound healing and the fighting of viruses. Vitamin C helps in increase collagen synthesis, collagen brings fullness and and firmness to the skin. Topical Vitamin C protects skin against harm caused by exposure to sunlight. Vitamin B12: It is needed for normal nerve cell activity. Vitamin B12 is also needed for DNA replication, and production of the mood-affecting substance called S-adenosyl-L-methionine. Vitamin B12 works with folic acid to control homocysteine levels. An excess of homocysteine, which is an amino acid (protein building block), may increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and perhaps osteoporosis and Alzheimer's disease. |
